If you are planning a wedding and think that it is way too much trouble, we have designed the perfect elopement wedding for you. After reserving a two night stay at Blue Skies Inn in any suite, you may book a Short & Sweet Wedding and marry in the mountains of Colorado! If you wish to extend your honeymoon time in Colorado, additional room nights may be booked at a 10% discount.

Our romantic, secluded bed and breakfast, located in the scenic foothills of Pikes Peak in the historic town of Manitou Springs, will provide the perfect setting for the wedding and honeymoon of your dreams.

Two Nights at
|
Because we are, first and foremost, a B&B and not a commercial wedding site, we offer our couple's Short & Sweet Wedding package only to guests who book at least a two-night stay with us. Unlike commercial wedding sites, we do not rent out our gardens and grounds for outside events, so you can plan on a quiet honeymoon.
|

We also offer you the right to purchase additonal honeymoon nights at Blue Skies Inn at a 10% discount.
Begin your new life together in your choice of our dreamy, handpainted suites. You may opt for the lushly romantic Sunset suite shown at the right, with its columned bed overhung with flowers as a bridal bower. Snuggle up together by the warm glow of the fireplace.

Three of our ten suites have a whirlpool tub for two in a spacious bathroom. The variety of suites at Blue Skies Inn allows you to find the perfect decor to match your wedding theme.
Your private sunlit sitting room is the perfect place to enjoy a scrumptious breakfast which is delivered to your door each morning. Dream of many days together while soaking in our outdoor hot tub under deep starlit Colorado skies.

Our ceremonies are held in Blue Skies' beautiful Secret Garden which is full of flowers and surrounded by stately gambel oak. Choose our wedding tent, by our new waterfall or a shady spot under our trees. A deer may wander by to watch you wed, and you are sure to be celebrated by butterflies among the flowers and birds singing overhead.
Some winter brides choose to have their wedding ceremony in the snow. We have a white satin cape edged with white fur to loan the bride to keep her warm on the way to the garden.

What a wonderful experience we were able to have with your help. The entire process from our first tour & planning session, with many phone conversations in between, to our special day on the 20 th was so reassuring and just absolutely perfect. We so appreciated when we arrived that there were arrangements for our ceremony to be either indoors or in the garden due to light snowfall. We chose indoors, and we were not disappointed. The photos turned out beautifully... you really captured each precious moment. And oh! what an amazing floral arrangement. I can't find the words to describe how lovely they were, and how beautiful I felt holding them. The Sunset suite was perfectly romantic, warm and cozy. The breakfast each morning was a delicious treat, a wonderful way to start our day. We were also very happy with the video, and we can't wait to share it with our family and friends.
We will never forget our wedding day, not only because we're truly in love, but also because our experience at the Blue Skies Inn has given us a wonderful beginning to the many memories we have yet to come as we begin our precious life-long journey together...

Toast to the Bride and Groom
& Cutting the Wedding Cake

Following your ceremony, newlyweds and officiant will sign your marriage certificate. We serve sparkling cider in champagne flutes for a joyful toast to the newly married couple. You will cut your wedding cake together to share your first sweet meal. You may bring champagne for the occasion if you wish.
If you wish, you may order an additional tier to take home for your romantic first anniversary celebration at additional cost of $30.
Vanilla and chocolate cake with regular or buttercream icing are the standard flavors. Cheesecake and other flavors and filling may be chosen at an upgrade in price of $25 per tier. Each tier may have two flavors in it. All tiers will be identical in flavors.
If the flavors are not important to you, we usually order one layer each of vanilla and chocolate with buttercream icing.
We will decorate the wedding cake with flowers to match the bride's bouquet at no extra cost.

We will provide an officiant who does not have a specific religious affiliation or a minister from a local church, whichever you prefer.
Feel welcome to write your own vows to add to the ceremony.
|
|
|
|
|
|
You may write your own vows or choose a traditional ceremony. When you book, we will direct you to our special list of officiants with descriptiuons of their wedding ceremonies. After choosing your officiant, you may contact him or her before the wedding date in order to discuss all of the details of your ceremony.
|
|
|
|
|
You may bring a CD to play before and after the wedding ceremony or you may borrow from our extensive collection of wedding CD's. We will contact musicians for you if you wish. Usually, a selection is played as the bride enters, and one is chosen for your first kiss after you are presented as newly married.
One memorable ceremony was punctuated by the soft calls of hummingbirds visiting our flowers.

Wedding Photos
Sally artfully takes 84 photos of your wedding as well as portraits. Within a week, they are presented to you along with all of your negatives and a CD of your photos. You can then make prints that you need for family and friends, as well as your own enlargements. You may choose to have more than the usual 84 photos taken at an additional cost of $3 per exposure.
If you wish, we will post a photo of you on our Elope2Colorado.com website within a week or so of your wedding. You may have fun calling friends and relatives to pull up the website, surprising those who didn't know of your wedding plans!

Witnesses are not required by the State of Colorado. The innkeeper, in addition to the officiant, will sign your wedding certificate, if you wish.

- Hair Styling and Make-Up: Available just a block away at Blades Salon. Call Abby for details: (719) 685-9476
- Videographer: Eugene Armstead tapes your ceremony from several angles with two professional video cameras, using a small hidden microphone to record your vows. Cost: $395/hour. Must be booked in advance through the innkeeper.
- Tuxedo Rentals: Located within 5 miles, close to the Clerk's Office where you will get your wedding license.
- Wedding Dinner: Several nearby restaurants that feature a variety of cuisines have banquet areas which will accommodate a wedding party. After you have booked your package, call Blue Skies Inn for details.

Colorado Marriage License
|
There is no waiting period in Colorado in order for couples to marry. It is a five mile drive to the El Paso County Clerk's office from Blue Skies Inn. It takes about ten minutes to apply for your marriage license.
Both parties must apply in person (or one party may apply by affidavit). You will need photo ID's and your social security numbers. Cost of license is ten dollars. Call for details or visit their website:

Wedding Guests

Why book your Short & Sweet wedding and honeymoon in the Heart of Colorado? BLUE SKIES INN is located in the foothills of Pikes Peak, at the center of Colorado recreation, with good access to river rafting, mountain hiking, unusual shopping and all of the terrain and sights that characterize the Colorado experience. Our beautiful mountain area has many interesting attractions and fun activities to enjoy during a honeymoon.
We welcome the bride and groom to stay additional days at our inn at a 10% discount.

History of Weddings at
|
Blue Skies Inn is located on a portion of the historic Briarhurst estate, built by Dr. William Bell who founded Manitou Springs. The exteriors of our B&B buildings mirror the Gothic Revival architecture and board-and-batten siding of the Briarhurst Carriage House, built in 1873, which is the oldest standing structure in Manitou Springs.
Madeleine Hyacinthe Schneider was the first bride to wed on the historic Briarhurst estate. She was the youngest daughter of her father Ferdinand, who was the gardener here over a hundred years ago.
Madeleine's wedding in 1915 was held outdoors in the garden, as ours are. The chimney in the background is on the mansion that now houses the Craftwood Inn, a nearby five-star restaurant.

We still enjoy Ferdinand's flowers and trees, so we named and decorated the Ferdinand's Garden Suite in his honor. His great-great-granddaughter, Elaine, will wed at our B&B in June 2006! We'll make a bouquet much like her great-grandmother's, shown above.
Blue Skies Inn has been the site of weddings since September 1998 when the first wedding cake was served in the front garden courtyard. Pastor Bill Cole of Circles of Love Bible Church officiates in the Secret Garden on an October day in 1999.
